Shelter

For a long time I planned to make a digital game which is based on board game "Bunker". Finally, I did it.

Shelter is a social game where you try on the role of a person during a global catastrophe who is lucky enough to find himself in front of a bunker. However, to get into it, you will have to prove that you have the right qualities to increase the group's chances of survival.

Gameplay

Shelter is a card game turn based game. The whole logic for the game was developed by me alone on Unity.

Each player has 6 stats, which they receive at the beginning of the game. Some of them are unique, for example, some health cards has a stage of illness, which can effect the game. Also, players receive a special card which can be used at any moment of the game, or have a special effects which change the game plan for the player.

After catastrophe and bunker conditions chosen, stage of revealing starts. During this phase, each player has to show one of their card to everyone and explain, why this stat will be helpful for the group.

Next stage is discussion. During it, everyone can say what they think about current situation or anything else. When open discussion is finished voting starts. Each player, can chose anyone to kick or can chose no one. The player with the most amount of votes is kicked and lose.

Then, next round starts and stages go from the beginning. Game is finished when enough player were kicked.

 

Future plans

For now this game requires game master to control the game process. In future, I want to solve this problem by makin a discord bot, which is connected to the game and control the whole process.

 

Also, to make this game not just a clone of existing board game, I wanted to add an interesting part after the current game. In this part, players have to overcome difficulties with their abilities and decide together what to do to survive.
